Our borough is extremely fortunate to have Kingston University at the heart of its business and enterprise ambitions. As well as offering expert advice such as research and consultancy, and business support including networking and knowledge exchange, it is the best UK university for graduate start-up companies. The University is ranked among the top 15% in the world.
It recently received planning permission for an iconic landmark building at its main campus in Penrhyn Road, a major gateway to Kingston town centre. Work is scheduled to begin in late 2016, with completion expected in late 2018. Dublin-based Grafton Architects have designed the new building. It will be glass-fronted, some rooms will have walls, some will not. Learning spaces will be open so visitors on the lower floors can see right up into the building. A rooftop terrace will offer views of the Thames and Hampton Court Palace.
