Kingston’s excellence in education is demonstrated year after year in the GCSE league tables. For 2014/15 (the most recent figures available) the borough was placed second in the entire country, with 73.2 per cent of pupils achieving five passes at A* to C including English and maths. Only the Scilly Isles performed better, just ahead of Kingston with 73.7 per cent. High performing Kingston schools include The Tiffin Girls’ School and Tiffin School with 100 per cent and 99 per cent respectively. The Holy Cross School and Coombe Girls’ School achieved 80 per cent.
For primary schools, the number of children achieving the required standards in Reading, Writing and Maths is consistently around 89 per cent and above – higher than the national and London average.
