The borough is extremely fortunate to have Kingston University at its business heart, providing a platform for growth and excellence.
For example, the university runs several different knowledge transfer schemes, including the national, government-funded knowledge transfer partnerships (KTPs), one of Europe’s largest graduate recruitment programmes. They aim to encourage innovation and improve the effectiveness of an organisation through collaboration with a university. They may involve an academic or academic team being seconded into a business or charity, or a three-way partnership between an organisation, an academic and a student/graduate working within the organisation. Since 1992, the university has facilitated approximately 90 long-term partnerships, valued at more than £10million. Kingston University’s researchers and academic experts also undertake consultancy and contract research for larger companies, and firms can sponsor a PhD/ masters student and benefit from the results of the work.
